History was made on 22nd May 2015 when Lancaster University Ghana’s student body elected their first ever Student Representative Council (SRC). The eight executives will serve on the SRC for the 2015/16 academic year.

President John Sylvester Ennin and Vice-President Jason Mills Lamptey were unopposed through a vote of confidence. The other members are:

Welfare Officer                                                  -     Rebecca Oddinaka Ezeife-Young
Academic Officer                                               -     Yasmin Ronke-Ali
Clubs, Societies and Sports Coordinator              -     Chinemerem Ahumibe
Communications Officer                                    -      Kofi Akyeampong
International Students Officer                            -      Steven Mutinda
Finance Officer                                                 -      Daniel Boateng

“My priorities as President is to ensure a great experience for all students and to provide transparency in the Student Council,” said John. “We're grateful that students came out and chose us to represent them, and we're also grateful to have the opportunity to try and make an impact on the student body through the plans we have laid out," he added.
As the Council’s executives prepare for their formal induction, they are well aware of not only their remarkable legacy, but also of the work that needs to be done to build a stronger LUG community.

Prior to the elections was the signing of the SRC Constitution, which was an historic occasion in itself as it marked the beginning of the process that led to the election of the university’s first SRC. It was also the culmination of a long negotiation process between a student steering committee and Lancaster University Ghana’s management.

Management is happy to see students taking initiatives and responsibilities to work towards the maintenance of good student experience and healthy staff-student relations based on mutual trust and respect with the SRC as their mouth piece.
